Saturday Morning

Pardon this interruption. This has been a very exciting week here in Spadoville. What started out as an easy going exercise in putting the finishing touches on our Day of the Dead altar and assembling a pile of items slated to go to New Mexico next week turned sour when I woke up Wednesday morning with pains in my chest and some kind of rumbling instead of a heartbeat.
I have been diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. Basically, I feel it as an uneven beating of my heart with upper chambers, the atrium, not in sync with the lower ones. This made my heart rate race to levels well into the 160’s. On top of this, I am still dealing with the after effects of Pneumonia and Bronchitis, and a touch of Congestive Heart Failure is being investigated as well. Given my heart history, this is just another piece of the why am I alive puzzle.
Three days in the hospital after a 45 mile ambulance ride has my life changing once again, yet I live on, in spite of it.
I’ll spare any more details for now save to say I am home and have so many new medications and doctor appointments scheduled that going anywhere is out of the question. This means there will be no trips to New Mexico until things settle down and my health gets stabilized, what ever that means.
Right now, I need to concentrate on breathing, one breath at a time, and following the instructions on my pill bottles. I’ll throw in some relaxation as well.
Our Celebration for Los Dias de Los Muertos is scheduled to go as planned on November 1st. Family members will pitch in and help with the cooking and set up. Other than that, I have no other plans and will take life day to day. That probably means participation in the usual blog memes and activities may experience a set back.
I don’t know what the plan is for me as far as the next step. No sense in wondering how this will turn out as I cannot predict the future, but it seems to be another turning point in this road called life. I’ll deal with it as I can and try really hard to make the burden on my family as delicate as possible.
Peace

'Wait.....send the better angel' is always a good answer when I start to get uneasy.

Needless to say, I was MORE than glad to see this morning's post.

It's good you went for the ride and it's good to let things 'settle down' and let others help you.
(yes, I sound like a broken record)

Rest, breathe--relax. LET others help out and LET 'em love ya.
Shoe on the other foot and it was the Mrs. in this 'moment'....you'd consider that a 'burden'? Pshaw.

That kind of excitement we can all live without but I'm glad you are home again and under care. Hope it all gets sorted out and you can hit the road again soon.

Do what the docs tell you (unless they aren't listening). Is a pacemaker a possibility?

Take all the help you can get - it's always good to delegate - pass the secrets on to the next generation.

hugs, Joe - and take care.

Oh Spado, what a surprise it was to read what happened to you in the past few days. I'm very glad to know you're okay and back at home.

Please do take your medicine and relax while your body heals. I will be sending prayers and good thoughts your way.

Love to your wife and family who I'm sure are more than happy to look after you.

I knew something was wrong when you didn't participate in haiku my heart but I was still devastated to read Noelle's post and find out something was wrong. I hightailed it over here to read your post. I am praying for you as I write this.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I went back to the emergency room on Sunday and have another doctors appointment o Tuesday. I am having an extremely hard time breathing when I try to sleep. I am dealing with many problems all at once. This process will take time.
I will post as I have the energy and desire to do so, otherwise, I'll be busy doingnwhat I can do to get better.
Thanks again.

Peace

I am so sorry to hear this...what a frightening thing to go through. One breath at a time, that's right. I hope they figure out how to get you back to yourself very soon.

Mr R had a pacemaker put in a couple of years ago, it was life saver...not sure that is the path you are headed.

Be well soon. Your body is telling you to slow down and consider life for a bit.Tell your body to heal each and every day. It really helps.......Wish I could make you some apple clafoutis......

Blimey O'Reilly, Mr Spado... I was a bit worried when you weren't at Haikus last week, but I figured you were off on an adventure! I had no idea of the kind of adventure were involved in though...

It probably comes really hard to you to listen to what others tell you and do as you're told, but, I really think you must rest and recuperate.
There's always a reason why we're alive and you obviously still have unfinished business, so...

Please behave, be good and take care. Or at least try... Just sayin'!

Hugs,
Rosie =)
