Lost Derek Jeter

The blemish could be neater

A-Rod's a cheater

Nearing the end of September. As a fan of the game of baseball, I watch the contested races with enthusiasm, but I can’t get over how money makes the game cheap and slut-like. Still, the ball is thrown and caught and sometimes hit, and that is what keeps me intrigued. That a game invented over 100 years ago has the same measurements today. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Peace

  1. Yes. Keeping our eye on the ball, I think the key here. Nothing like the sound when the bat hits the ball. Nothing. Batter up.

  3. i love your cheeky post today!
you have me smitten for a certain someone i have loved forever. i can close my eyes and see his crush my heart smile, as his bat smacks the ball and part of me; seemingly to heaven. he runs like the wind, and i am standing in a sea of friends cheering him on!
when life does not open the door to the fulfillment of love, we get to have that lump in our hearts, that inhaling of dreams and hopes that never fail to lift us outside of the here and now into a landslide home run of eternal love. thank you for taking me back....

  8. Always thought A-rod was a rapper...silly me. I will quote my mom now, when she heard baseball should be played on fresh mown grass.
"Baseball should be played on broken glass"...my mom always has the best answer.

  13. When I first moved to the US it was my husband and father-in-law's mutual enthusiasm and knowledge that made me love a sport I'd never followed. The first trip to Fenway was a revelation and I cried when we sat in the stands at Cooperstown to watch an exhibition game.

It is a perfect game. Thanks for the post and your saucy haiku that encapsulates how things have changed.

  14. I'm irritated with the whole lot of 'em right now.
*laughing* Doesn't stop me from watching the Cubs that he-who-is-a-fan watches.
I almost find myself rooting for them!
This from a die hard Yankee fan.

Yes, even I'm shaking my head....
