Shadow Shot Sunday
July 24, 2011

This is a wonderful meme every Sunday that features submissions of Shadow Shots from all over the world. To see more and find out how to participate, go to Hey Harriet's Photography.

I love the detail in this close-up. The subtle shadows within the cylinder head fins and under the fender draw me in. Click to enlarge.

Guess the make, year and model and I'll send you a Dream Catcher.

No guesses. Oh well, here's the answer:

1973 Honda 500 Four

  2. Motors amaze me - the first one anyway - the ingenuity of the men who create them and design the parts. I wish I'd taken auto shop in school. Of course, girls weren't allowed then.

  4. Varooomm...cool shot! It is a motorcyle right? I could guess a random year...even a random make...but I would have to make up a model as I do not know even a single motorcyle model name. Don't think that would give much of a chance of winning :(

  5. Nice shot, I like the details! No guesses to your question, however...

About the man in "Afternoon Commute," the weather here in northern Idaho has been very different from what the rest of the country has had. Cool and cloudy seems to be the norm this summer, although the day the picture was taken, the clouds were not so evident.

  6. Joe .. I'll never guess all of those technical things about a motorcycle .. so I won't be able to compete for the dream catcher darn it !!
But it does have some very cool shadows and bright spots and reflections .. very shiny indeed .. I would tempt you with a deal of sending you one of my little stone garden faces (small but intricate with an amazing, closed eye smile of contentment)in exchange .. but then again .. you really should stick to your guns with this little contest!
    Joy wink wink

  7. I'm sure as those shadows draw you in, they are also whispering, "Come on, let's go! The open road is waiting!"

    I’M YOUR SHADOW

    Hello, there, I’m your shadow,
    I tag after you;
    Whatever you are doing,
    That is what I do.

If you should fling a football
    Forty yards or more,
    I’ll be right beside you,
    Evening the score.

If you should flick a booger
    From your stuffy nose,
I will surely do the same—
    Watch how far it goes!

    So, friend, be very careful
    What you say and do—
    Whatever you are doing,
    I’ll do just as you!

  9. Thank you for all your fantastic comments. I appreciate each and every visit to my blog.
I'll let this post go for a day or two to see if anyone ventures a guess about what kind of motorcycle engine this is a photo of.
Just a guess is all it would take. So far, no one has guessed, so maybe the first guess, whether or not it is correct, will win the grabnd, (and only) prize.

    Hint: It's a Honda
Another hint: The model is usually the engine size and number of cylinders.

  10. Vintage pipes. Kinda sounds like those other sayings like, she's stacked or a tall drink of water-doesn't it?

Well, what ever it is that I'm trying to think of but can't articulate, those are great vintage pipes!!

  14. Well, shoot!
I was gonna say a 75 Honda, black and red in colour with two wheels and a black seat with chrome on it. *laughing*

Half of that's true, the rest is a fib, of course.

I really was gonna say it was a Harley. Mostly cuz that's the make I know. There's another make? LOL

    Good Monday to you, sir!
It was the invasion of the small person this weekend and I'm JUST catching up.....barely....

Frankly, I think a nap would be wiser, but there you have it and here I am!
    Blessings to you and yours.
I hope you had a 'drier than me' weekend!
