So, here's the Queen Mary, docked in Long Beach, California. The photos were taken as we cruised the area in our friends 39' Sea Ray, also pictured. As I searched for these pictures, I had the bright idea of going back and visiting our dear friends again this year and have another outing on the boat. Looks like a lot of fun.
In the meantime, enjoy the photos, and I'll see you back here in a day or so with a fabulous spread about the spirits that visit us tonight.
There you have it. An intermission from the usual. Thanks to all that visit here. Have a wonderful day.
Peace

As a child I was taken on board the Queen Mary for a special ceremony as she lay once in Southampton Harbour. The Mayor of Southampton wished to present a suitable civic chair to the Maire of Cherbourg, across the English Channel, where the Cunard transatlantic liners regularly called. The Southampton city council bought an impressively carved 17th Century oak chair from my mother. Cunard agreed to ferry it across the Channel for the mayoral presentation. My mother and I attended the delivery ceremony to the Captain of the Queen Mary. I have photos in the family album (actually a big envelope stuffed with photos). Thanks for a pleasant reminder!

What a lovely little boat to go tootling around in. Yup--might wanna do that one again!
In the meantime--I lit a candle yesterday in honour. I think I felt glad to do that, which is a good thing, actually.
I do hope the celebration is a joyous one with good friends and loving family. I know it'll be a first time invitation for your mom.
