Haiku My Heart
February 10, 2012
Haiku My Heart is a weekly project started by my friend Rebecca. She has guided many of us through this exercise now, and draws us together in a special fellowship grounded in Peace and Love. Join us at her blog, recuerda mi corazon.
Yours truly traversing a steep hillside in the Gila National Forest, New Mexico |
Jeep ride jalopy
Windy sunshine fills my dreams
Drives my heart insane
The theme here is not unlike Rebecca’s Haiku My Heart offering today with the idea that she awaits the sounds of Spring in the morning darkness. My dreams are of Spring and the thought of enjoying what I love to do. I’m adding a few more activities to the mix this season as well.
To be honest, this ten year old photo from New Mexico, when I had the army Jeep and ran it up and down the mountains and hillsides on cow paths, makes me swoon with delight. I remember the day Mrs. Spadoman took the picture and where we were on Burro Mountain between Lordsburg and Silver City, and the fun we had.
We enjoyed the Jeep rides. The ones to town. The ones into the wilderness crossing the Black Range. The ones where we just went to the river and hiked around. Today, my heart is crazy with the thought of the weather being warm and the wind on my face and in my hair. More than a thought, but an actual dream, played out while sleeping and remembered well into the day I am living. Not just on the motorcycle, but sharing it with my soul mate, maybe in another Jeep.
The insurance company of the guy who hit me made our well-loved Goldie a total loss, (see the post below this one for those details). Replacement might mean another Jeep or similar vehicle that is capable of traversing the gravelly roads, as a return to New Mexico is eventually inevitable. That thought made my dreams of Summer exciting.
I’ll be on cloud nine today. If you need me, leave a message.
Peace

Spring came to mind for me today, too. Maybe because it is so dismal out today here. It's not been a bad winter here by any stretch of the imagination. I guess I'm just ready for the sun to rise earlier and to set later. Wishing you a grand weekend. Cathy
Nurture that insane heart of yours Joe... I can picture you speeding up and down the mountains in your jeep! I almost hear a soundtrack to the movie too! Have fun on your cloud and stay warm (it must be cold up there...!)
Glad you and Mrs Spadoman are okay after the accident ~ hope you get a jeep ~ fun ~
Haiku 'windy dreams' ~ has me feeling my own dreams ~ enjoy the day ~ ^_^ ~ namaste ~ Carol
When I was a little girl, there was an older couple at the lake who doted on us kids - they were thrilled to have us swim off their dock for some reason. The Mr. had an old jeep - an actual military vehicle and would take us on rides - pure heaven. I've always wanted a convertible of some sort - a jeep would suit me fine but they say the new ones aren't very good. I doubt I'll ever have that dream come true anyway now but I can still share in the thought of balmy spring air through my hair and the warm sun on my shoulders.
LOL I can't help it--When I saw that photo I started laughing, knowing that the odds of a Jeep replacing Goldie went through the roof. LOL That's a good thing. He-who-owns-the-Jeep would agree, I'm sure.
I let him doing the offroad stuff--and hold my breath. LOL But it's all good!
Mostly cuz I can hold my breath a VERY long time. LOLOL
Oh, I'm happy just thinking of you being happy about the prospects!! Ohhhhhhh.....ADVENTURES!!! :-)
I'm all about that!
(they do your heart good yaknow.)
"Today, my heart is crazy with the thought of the weather being warm and the wind on my face and in my hair."

Yo, yo, yo, Spadoman! "What it do?" as the kids like to say. Cloud 9 always gets such great reviews. I think I'll try it today as a matter of principle. :)
I think that we're all hankering for Spring, as the days get a little longer and the sun streams a little brighter. I love the thoughts evoked by your haiku and the jeep - great memories...great impetus!
It is good news that only the car was hurt...and everything happens for a reason and you've found the silver lining...a new jeep to chase down a wonderful memory.
Now THAT is good news :)
♥♥♥
I believe your summer dreams will come true...
I see many a Jeep-ing excursion on cow paths in your future!

The wind beneath your wings. What a delightful post; I felt like I was with you. Now I'm going to read about Goldie. Oh, oh.
enjoy your cloud. I know thw view is fine. Can't wait to see your new ride and hear the tales of the journeys ahead!
We had a jeep when I was growing up, and it was pure joy to drive, actually learned how to drive in it! Wishing you lots of heart filled windy sunshine dreams come true!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, your haiku makes me want to go along on such a trip, and i've never even ridden in a jeep! I guess i just don't know what i am missing, we never do!
sorry about your car, glad about your heart...sometimes the patience of healing is so hard...but i think the weather is shining upon you, it's kindest blessing...(i also love the pic of your icy superior cabin...)...wishing you cups of warmth and healing in your wintery place
What a fun haiku. Wishing you many sunny memory making days ahead.
Hey there cloud 9-- just remember it is a decade later & being able to close up your Jeep & go for the A/C it is a health issue, especially in NM.
Just sayin' make sure you keep all those options open.
They don't make many vehicles w/o A/C these days, but w a heart condition, you might overheat easier.
I'm younger than you & it has become a serious deal. My old Caravan A/C died when it was 106º.
Stuck in slow moving freeway traffic breathing fumes of other cars, sitting in that oven damn near killed me.
Soft sided vehicles are more prone to theft & tampering.
Sorry to interrupt your happy daydream.
Just inserting some 21st century reality checks.
What happened to the CRV??
I didn't wish for something like a Jeep until recently (last year) when I realized that the places I really like to go, can only be gotten to by way of 4WD w/ 18" clearance. Rode in the new Jeep (a friend's) last spring and, WOW! I'm hooked!
I assume that a Jeep will be an addition to the CRV?
Over here we have Landrovers which do pretty much the same kind of thing, go anywhere and give you lots of excitement.
Though the modern ones aren't quite the same, just big people carriers with a bit of attitude. We used to have an old one - driving it was like working out in a gym, and you never knew quite how far it would turn when you turned the wheel! We loved it though.
Hoping it's warm and breezy on cloud nine.
I can just see you at the wheel, having way too much fun!
Well done. Take care ... on the child within you.
