I don't know how you could have even attempted to work so soon after your daughter's death but then, I'm sure sitting at home in grief is probably not the best way to cope either. I just know that I would likely be a zombie for months. Needless to say, the fact that the kids probably had no clue about your circumstances, your meal must have been epic for a camp - especially after the fare they'd have had while canoeing. How wonderful though that they expressed their appreciation so vividly - it must have been such a balm for your soul - and entirely deserved as you obviously went to considerable trouble to please them.

Did you ever find out why the spaghetti didn't go over?

Frankly, I can't imagine cooking meals in those quantities - mind boggling! How on earth would you figure out recipe proportions and the quantity to prepare? I worked as a fast food cook for a few summers and it could be very daunting when a large group came in to get everything done at the same time.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10900762748835789870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3807994396764212014.post-32085002163271008882013-01-23T14:37:48.889-08:002013-01-23T14:37:48.889-08:00Prescott Morrill: Head cook 2006 and 2007. As long as I was there, we were still making all our bread from scratch, and there is now a tradition of throwing open the doors and applauding the chef during announcements at each banquet. I had no idea how it started, and my hat is off to you. I've heard rumors of the epic BBQ, and now I know...

I still took all my meals in the kitchen/office, often while writing the next couple weeks of meal plan. We stepped-up the game of doing good food from scratch: my personal homerun was a dessert of creme brulee for 120 folks (long-trip welcome), each fired by hand, after a feast of braised beef.

I think this is a small, and proud fraternity of people that have kept the metabolism of camp going, and it makes me very proud/happy to read this post.

It makes me glad to hear a little more of Menogyn culinary history. If you're in the Twin Cities area, it would be great to catch a beer sometime.Prescotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09181263612679015971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3807994396764212014.post-86276221119537613762013-01-23T10:50:44.995-08:002013-01-23T10:50:44.995-08:00Much love to you and your family, Joe!Much love to you and your family, Joe!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00873085882297013455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3807994396764212014.post-76973203121401733682013-01-23T06:59:40.368-08:002013-01-23T06:59:40.368-08:00True recognition of a job well done!
